As noted yesterday, I’m going to bring my commentary on the day’s political events to RadioFreeSomewhere.com, this Substack landing page where I have at least a semblance of control over what people see from me.
Trump announces women’s health initiative amid weak support from female voters
The Washington Post reports that Trump and his Slovenian model wife are setting up another health scam, allegedly to improve women’s health.
So just ignore all the systematically evil stuff they are doing to limit women from making choices about their own reproductive lives, the women who have died in Texas and other red states because of laws passed by MAGA politicians that deprive medical professional of the legal right to offer lifesaving treatments.
A good rule of thumb when it comes to health care right now is to ignore anything the federal government tells you. The safest place to get medical information is from your own health care provider.
Trump uses antisemitic slur in defending Sen. Roger Marshall at rally in Kansas
One thing you can always depend on with Trump is that he will say something inappropriate and offensive to some group whenever he speaks. It’s especially nice to see him insulting the people he’s campaigning for, because they have to shift uncomfortably in their oversized Florsheims while he disparages them, because they are just greedy sycophants hoping they can get some katas ng Trump (ask your Tagalog-speaking friends) for the campaign.
NBC News reported that “Trump used the same slur last year in a speech to describe exploitative bankers as he was promoting his sweeping domestic policy bill. Some Jewish groups denounced his use of the term.”
As I’ve said before, he’s no friend to the Jews or to Israel.
It’s hard not to read into Christiane Amanpour’s CNN exit - Poynter
Ren LaForme and TyLisa C. Johnson of Poynter Institute note that “Legendary anchor and foreign correspondent Christiane Amanpour announced Monday that she would leave CNN next year after more than four decades at the cable network.”
Big changes coming now that CNN is under the control of the far-right leaning Ellison family, along with CBS News. It will be a real test of principled journalists, and it appears to be one that’s going to hurt. Ratings are sliding at CBS thanks to meddling by Bari Weiss and her allies, inserting their political slant into “60 Minutes” and other news content. CNN’s Mark Thompson has promised to stay on, but that always happens for about six to eight months, and then the hammer drops. You heard it here first.
